Our History
Stanley Bay School was established on 15 February 1909, starting with 98 pupils. By July 1909 the roll had reached 200 and by April 1910 it had grown to 240 pupils.
Due to the expansion of the roll new buildings were added in 1911.
The first headmistress was a Miss M Barr who was only 20 at the time and shortly became Mrs Garvey. Years later under the energetic leader George Wilson the school quickly expanded purchasing two sections on Glen Road and used as playing fields. 1909 One year later the school was built at a cost of 754 pounds. A team of builders erected two classrooms and a porch. When the school was first established it was an extension of Devonport Primary School. Miss M Barr, a teacher from Devonport was appointed Head Teacher.
