Ben holds a Bachelor of Education (Hons) from the University of Exeter, UK.  After teaching for two years in England he travelled in Europe and the Americas before arriving in New Zealand in 1987.  He joined the NZ Police and after postings around the North Island retired in January 2019 as a Commissioned Officer and member of the Auckland City District Leadership Team. He has been teaching for the past two years at a North Shore Primary School.   Ben’s hobbies include ocean swimming, cycling, sailing and as his wife also insists, watching anything involving a ball on tv.  He currently coaches swimming for the Devonport Swimming Club and has coached rugby, football and sailing.  Ben lives locally and has three adult children: Bruno, Edith and Isabella.
