Miss Naomi Forster
Year 1 class, Room 2
My name is Naomi Forster and I teach in Year 1 at Stanley Bay. I come from Buckinghamshire in England and have recently relocated to New Zealand to experience a different way of teaching, which I am enjoying immensely.
I trained in the UK, first as a nursery nurse, followed by a degree in early childhood studies. I feel my training in the education, health and social care of children prepared me well for my post graduate certificate in teaching.
I strongly believe in child centered learning and my ultimate goal is for all children in my class to be secure, happy and enthusiastic to learn. I try my hardest to achieve this by ensuring all children feel valued and have a voice within our classroom community. I see myself more as a facilitator than a teacher, allowing children to identify their next learning steps and initiate projects, scaffolded by me.
When I’m not teaching I enjoy traveling, catching up with friends and yoga. I am also passionate about sustainability, and enjoy promoting this with a club of enthusiastic children from a range of year groups called the green team. We are currently working towards an environmental area, which will include a vegetable garden.
