Mrs Sharon Close
Year 1/2 class,
Room 2
sclose@stanleybay.school.nz
I am Sharon Close. I started teaching at Stanley Bay School in 2008. I have always taught in the Junior Syndicate and led the juniors as Senior Teacher from 2008-2010. I have two children, Ollie is in year two at Stanley Bay school and Molly will be three in October 2013.
I originally come from Leicester, England. I started teaching in 1998 in Outer London and then moved to a quiet village school in Bedfordshire. I fell in love with New Zealand whilst backpacking in 2000 and emigrated here with my husband, Nick in 2005.
I enjoy teaching in at Stanley Bay with some fantastic and enthusiastic teachers and like the community feel of the school. I love all things creative and arty and like to give the children hands on experiences to aid their learning.
I currently live in Murrays Bay on the North Shore, but will be moving back to Torbay later this year when my new house is built! I love living near so many beaches. In my spare time I enjoy spending it with my children, who certainly keep me busy. I also love Les Mills Combat classes and running. I have run in five Auckland Half Marathons. I have also taken part in duathalons and last year I did my first triathlon.
