On behalf of the Board of trustees and staff, welcome to the Stanley Bay School website.
At Stanley Bay School, we see ourselves as a learning community where our primary focus is to enrich children's learning and to prepare each child to become a self managing learner. We hold the belief that every child will be provided with the opportunity to achieve success and develop pride in their achievements.
Stanley Bay School is part of a community of learning with our other local primary schools, intermediate school and Takapuna Grammar School.
We are known to be a very innovative school and have just won funding from the
teacher-led innovation fund, being one of just over a hundred schools NZ wide achieving this funding.
We believe it is important to foster a child's natural curiosity and we place an importance on the teaching of science.
“You don’t need to teach a child curiosity. Curiosity is innate. You just have to be careful not to squash it.This is the challenge for the teacher, to foster and guide that curiosity.” Sir Paul Callaghan
Four of our teachers have been trained by the Sir Paul Callaghan Science Academy and a further two will be trained this year. The purpose of the academy is to build excellence in the teaching of science. In 2017 we have established a specialist science room and all children have the privilege of being taught science in a 'hands-on, inquiry focused' manner.
The school encourages and values parent and community involvement in the school. It is the close co-operation between parents and teachers that ensures quality educational experiences for our students.
Our school motto is "Those who do their best do well" and we expect each child to do their best in what ever is undertaken. Our goal is to provide a school environment where pupils are safe, secure, happy, co-operative and where our key focus is on learning.
At Stanley Bay School we recruit and retain long-serving, highly effective staff who are committed to providing the very best outcomes for children. We are very proud of the calibre of our staff and the passion they show for teaching and learning.
Stanley Bay is currently able to take a limited number of out of zone placements for 2017.
