Welcome to Stanley Bay School, Devonport,
Auckland, New Zealand.
| Our vision: To optimise student's achievement. |
On behalf of the Board of trustees and
staff, welcome to the Stanley Bay School website.
We see
ourselves as a learning community where our primary focus
is to enrich children's learning and to prepare each child
to become a self managing learner. We hold the belief that
every child will be provided with the opportunity to achieve
success and develop pride in their achievements.
The school
encourages and values parent and community involvement
in the school. It is the close co-operation between parents
and teachers that ensures quality educational experiences
for our students.
Our school motto is "Those who do their best do well" and
we expect each child to do their best in what ever is undertaken.
Our goal is to provide a school environment where pupils
are safe, secure, happy, co-operative and where our key
focus is on learning.

Extending High Standards Across Schools
In 2007 the Devonport cluster of schools, which includes all of the local primary schools, the intermediate and Takapuna Grammar, were awarded an Extending
High Standards Across Schools Contract.
The goal of our cluster is to identify and foster quality teaching to enhance student achievement. Research has shown that to improve student achievement, children need to understand what learning is, how they learn and how they can manage their own learning. Our cluster will be focusing initially on inquiry based learning to assist students to develop the skills to take them from primary school, through intermediate and on to secondary. The cluster group of schools will be working on developing a common understanding and language of learning that children will be familiar with at each level of their schooling within the cluster schools.
A major focus will be on self-assessment and the development of common assessment tools based on solo taxonomy.
